Líder de al-Qaida en Irak es arrestado en Mosul

BAGDAD (AP) - Un portavoz del Ministerio de Defensa indicó que
el líder de al-Qaida en Irak, Abu Ayyub al-Masri, ha sido arrestado
en la ciudad norteña de Mosul.
El portavoz Mohamed al-Askari dijo que el arresto de al-Masri,
también conocido como Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, le fue confirmado por
el comandante iraquí de la provincia.
No hubo una confirmación inmediata por parte de las fuerzas
estadounidenses en torno a la detención.
Al-Askari no dijo el jueves cuándo fue arrestado el líder de
al-Qaida. La noticia también fue reportada por la televisión
estatal iraquí.
